What if my door breaks outside working hours?
The short answer
The longer answer
A door stuck open, or one that will not lock, is a security problem before it is a mechanical one — those cases go to the top of the list. Most repairs are scheduled within the week, and we can often diagnose the likely fault from a phone description before anyone visits.
One caution while you wait: if the door has a snapped spring, do not attempt to lift it or wind the spring yourself — the stored tension is genuinely dangerous. Our snapped spring guide explains what is safe to do and what to leave alone until we arrive.
