Roller Garage Doors.
Roller garage doors are built from foam-filled aluminium slats that curl into a compact head box above the opening. They open vertically with no swing-out, reclaiming full floor and ceiling space inside the garage, and come automated as standard. Best for short driveways and tight headroom. Available in a wide range of RAL colours, fitted across the Thames Valley.

The detail
Roller Garage Doors, properly explained.
Why choose a roller garage door?
A roller door rises vertically and coils into a compact box above the opening, so there is no swing arc outside and no tracks across the ceiling inside. You can park hard against the door and still use the full ceiling for storage. The curtain is ordered to overlap the opening, which is why rollers suit awkward and low-headroom garages — our sizes guide explains the measuring convention.
What do you get at £1,800 that a £995 offer leaves out?
Our rollers start at £1,800 supplied and fitted: an insulated aluminium door, made to measure, electrically operated with a branded tube motor, brush seals and a full-height guide system. Two rollers that look identical in a photo can be £1,500 apart for real engineering reasons — slat thickness, motor brand, seals and hood cover. National flat-price offers are real, but a from-price buys the narrowest door at base specification; a typical professionally fitted single roller invoices at £1,800 to £2,600.
How warm is an insulated roller?
Insulated roller slats achieve a U-value of roughly 2.0 to 3.5 W/m²K — a big step up from single-skin steel at 6.0 to 7.0, though short of an insulated sectional's 1.0 to 1.4 because the guide rails create thermal bridges. If warmth is the deciding factor for an attached garage, compare a sectional; if space is the deciding factor, the roller wins. More in the U-values guide.
Electric by default.
Almost any sensible roller specification is electric, with a branded tube motor hidden in the barrel and remote controls included in the fitted price. More on operators, safety edges and smart control on the automated electric garage doors page.

- Where do you cover?
- Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Newbury, Basingstoke, Henley, Maidenhead, Slough, Camberley, Oxford and surrounding villages across Berkshire, Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley. If you're within an hour of our base, we cover you.
- What happens at the free survey?
- We visit, measure the opening properly, talk through how you use the garage, and leave you with three written fitted prices — a budget, mid and premium option for the same opening. No obligation, no deposit taken on the day.
- Do you offer finance?
- Yes, through Ideal4Finance. Typical plans are 0% over 12 months on installs over £2,000.
- How long does a typical garage door installation take?
- A standard replacement (sectional or up-and-over) takes around 4-6 hours on a single visit. Roller doors with full automation can be 6-8 hours. Side-hinged with frame replacement is usually a full day.
- Do you remove the old door?
- Yes, every quote includes removal and ethical disposal of your existing door. We recycle the steel and aluminium where possible.
- Can you automate my existing door?
- Most door types, yes. We can automate existing up-and-over doors by fitting an electric operator, and on sectional and roller doors we replace or upgrade the motor operator. Side-hinged doors can be motorised too, typically around £800 depending on the gear your opening needs. Call us and we will confirm what is possible for your door.
