How much does it cost to automate a garage door?

The short answer

Our garage door operators start at £605 supplied and fitted, including the boom, remote controls and programming. Retrofitting an operator to a suitable existing door runs £500 to £750; adding automation to a new door at install time typically adds £400 to £700.

The longer answer

The two operators we fit most are Hörmann's ProMatic (around £550 to £750 installed — the value pick) and the SupraMatic (around £850 — quieter and faster, with BlueSecur app control available). Which one suits you depends mostly on door size and how often you use it.

What it takes differs by door type: rollers are electric by default, sectionals automate naturally, up-and-overs need retractable gear, and side-hinged pairs take dedicated leaf gear at around £800. The automated electric garage doors page covers operators, safety edges and smart control in full.
